10 Doctor Who Characters Who Should Have Been Companions
7. Rigsy
Peter Capaldi's first two series were plagued by companion issues. Sure, Clara had incredible chemistry with the Twelfth Doctor, but at the same time...her arc was very tedious. She was presented as The Doctor's equal which took away from some of the more relatable aspects of the show.
Enter Rigsy.
Rigsy was introduced in the episode Flatline as a graffiti artist who encounters some deadly creatures from a different dimension. This episode showed Rigsy as a man who could handle his own. He was willing to help and, while scared, he managed to persevere.
Rigsy returned in Face the Raven where it was established that he had a child. This gave even more humanity to Rigsy and established him as an everyman. Seeing Rigsy board the TARDIS (either by choice or accidentally) could have made for a great series. Seeing him constantly attempt to make his way home despite the time-machines best intentions.
Adding the Twelfth Doctor into the mix would have made for great TV, as the pair ended up with a solid relationship at the end of Face the Raven. Hopefully Rigsy makes a return down the line!
