10 Doctor Who Characters Who Should Have Been Companions

5. Astrid Peth

I don't think anyone expected for Kylie to be as good as she was in Voyage of the Damned.

Starring as waitress Astrid Peth, Kylie brought a starry-eyed wonder to her role, something that had been lost since during the shows third series. Astrid was heart-warming, funny and innocent; all of which paired brilliantly with the Tenth Doctor.

Tennant and Kylie were great together, and the narrative of the episode really hinted that Astrid would be joining the TARDIS. However due to tragic circumstances, Astrid was unable to join The Doctor on his adventures. Her departure at the end of the episode was incredibly emotional, and was one of the more convincing relationships that the Tenth Doctor had during his run.

It was upsetting seeing Astrid go, and we can't help but think of some of the stories that could have been told with her. Maybe we could have seen her go home to the planet Sto, and there was even some family intrigue bubbling there as well making her perfect companion material.
