10 Doctor Who Characters Who Should Have Been Companions
4. Perkins
Comedians have proved to work well as companions in Doctor Who. Catherine Tate was brilliant as Donna Noble, and even Matt Lucas came into his own as Nardole. So, adding Perkins into the mix seemed like a winning formula.
Long-time Doctor Who fan Frank Skinner made a guest appearance in Mummy on the Orient Experience, and his chemistry with the Twelfth Doctor was off the scale. Both characters were very dry and complimented each other, as well as Clara, in that episode.
It seemed that Steven Moffat was setting up a future appearance for Perkins with a tease at the end of the episode, but sadly nothing came of this in the long run.
While Clara was still at the forefront of the show at this time, it would have been nice to see an addition to the Twelve/Clara dynamic. Perkins would have made for a unique addition to the TARDIS team and would have worked wonders with Peter Capaldi at that time.
