10 Doctor Who Characters You Completely Changed Your Mind About

8. The Paternoster Gang

Big up the Paternoster Gang! First seen in A Good Man Goes to War, this trio of Earth defending juggernauts have established themselves as a formidable force to be reckoned with as far as the Doctor's amicable allies are concerned. Madama Vastra, Commander Strax and Jenny Flint hail from Victorian England and they're always on hand to aid the titular Time Lord whenever their timelines collide (which these days is basically every series). You might have wondered what the hell was going on when they first appeared out of nowhere in the mid-Series 6 finale but they have since become fully rounded characters in their own right with legions of fans actively campaigning for them to land their very own spin off series. And let's face it, who wouldn't want to watch a Sontaran, a Silurian and her Cockney wife and maid embarking on their own extra terrestrial excursions? It could either be extremely X-rated or painfully politically correct, depending on its position in the schedules, and it would certainly be a breath of fresh air in the sense that Vastra and Jenny would always be getting off and telling everyone it was an "oxygen transfer". Yeah, yeah, whatever. You're not fooling us! Do what makes you happy. You only live once.
