10 Doctor Who Episodes You Completely Forgot Existed

6. The Hungry Earth / Cold Blood - Chris Chibnall

Doctor Who Silurian
BBC Studios

Now this one had all the potential in the world. One of the most iconic Classic Who villains yet to return to the show, a tense hostage situation and a refreshingly layered twist on the monster of the week format.

Where did it all go wrong?

Well, this was one of Chibnall's earlier forays into Who at the time, but nowadays the issues seen in this episode are all too familiar to us.

The single biggest missing piece in this episode is the supporting cast, who are all pretty forgettable, don't behave like rational human beings, and in some cases are intensely unlikable (and not in a good way).

We also spend far too much time with them above ground in what is a rather uninspired location. Even the Silurian characters don't hold your attention despite their fascinating premise. This two-parter would have been a lot stronger had it been condensed into a single episode.
