10 Doctor Who Moments You Didn't See Coming

Series 12 of Doctor Who was full of surprises, not all of them welcomed by the fanbase at large. But a moment that was almost universally enjoyed was the return of Captain Jack Harkness, who exploded onto the scene after a ten-year absence.

While it would've been nice to see him get more screen time in the series - and while his next return in Revolution Of The Daleks was a bit of a disappointment - nobody can deny that the moment when we first heard Jack's voice in Fugitive Of The Judoon is the stuff that happiness is made of.

"You missed me, right?" Yes we did sir. Yes we did.

Unlike its shocking handling of the Simm Master reveal in Series 10, the BBC actually managed to keep this moment under wraps too, resulting in a really nice surprise for long-term fans.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
