10 Doctor Who Spin Offs That Are Just Waiting To Happen
2. The Paternoster Gang
Since their first appearances in A Good Man Goes to War, the formidable "Paternoster Gang" - that's Commander Strax, Jenny Flint and Madame Vastra, if you didn't know - have not only established themselves as three of the Doctor's most faithful allies, but also as fully formed characters in their own right. Their starring episodes are always guaranteed to bring plenty of their unique action and humour to the table and, after fans initially responded to their first episode with such high levels of regard and enthusiasm, it's no surprise that a lightbulb went off above Steven Moffat's head and he's been bringing them back - in increasingly bigger roles - ever since. There's plenty of reason too, as you're not likely to run out of things to do with a Silurian detective, her Cockney maid and a Sontaran commander, though the Moff's attempts to "push the boundaries" with them in this year's series ultimately proved to be somewhat controversial... Saying that, perhaps fans will eventually start to tire of them if they continue to make comebacks (that is, if you haven't tired of them already!), but at this point it's bound to be only a minority of fans who wouldn't revel in seeing their ongoing Victorian alien-busting escapades documented in the form of their very own high octane spin off series. Such a show would pretty much have it all, and the Doctor could even pop up in it every now and then, too. Everyone's a winner.
