10 Doctor Who Spin Offs That Are Just Waiting To Happen

8. River's Run

Some Doctor Who fans would argue that there's already been far too much of River Song in our lives, while others just can't seem to get enough of her. Whether you love or loathe this enigmatic, psychopathic, child of the Doctor's TARDIS and his eventual murder-committing wife in her all fuzzy haired glory, you can't deny that the unexplored aspects of her timey-wimey existence would more than justify a spin off series of their very own. Whether you'd tune in would be a different matter entirely, of course, but for everything fans know about River's past, present and future, there's still an awful lot they don't know, too. Maybe it's better that way. Some things are better left unsaid, after all, which is a particularly vital aspect of a character who seemingly thrives on the secrecy of her "spoilers". Viewers watched her birth (not literally, of course - that would be weird!) and viewers watched her death, though not necessarily in that order, but fans have only seen a handful of her encounters with the Doctor that took place in between. Something tells us she got up to her fair share of shenanigans while she away from the Doctor's watchful eye and there's her time at university studying archaeology which has been only briefly explored, too. And what about her last fateful encounter with the Doctor, when he showed up on her doorstep with a new haircut and a new suit, before she ultimately summoned him to the Library? While the subject has been addressed on a DVD exclusive mini-episode, fans could coolly sweep that under the carpet in favour of a more canonical explanation. Saying that, her backstory could probably fill up an entire movie trilogy, let alone a spin off series. River Song: The Movie, anyone?
