While Doctor Whos behind the scenes issues in the 1980s are well documented, the programme has faced problems both long before and long after what is widely regarded as its decline, and its eventual cancellation. Because no matter how polished and pristine it may look when its finished, Doctor Who is not a faultless well-oiled machine. Never has been, never will be. Pretty much any Doctor episode you can think of will have had some kind of problem at one point or another. Minor problems will always crop up from somewhere but, thankfully, its now incredibly rare for them to be of such a magnitude that they jeopardise the production of an episode.
