10 Doctor Who Storylines That Fans Pretend Never Happened
10. The "New Paradigm" Daleks
In Victory of the Daleks, a new paradigm of the metal meanies assumes control of the Dalek Empire. At the conclusion of the episode, the new Daleks have taken over and are bent on supplanting their inferior predecessors, even going so far as to vapourise the previous crew of their own ship in front of the Doctor's eyes. Except, the public's reaction to the redesigned Daleks wasn't entirely favourable. For that reason, the new Daleks were shown as existing in harmony with the other, supposedly not-as-good Daleks in later stories, notably in Asylum of the Daleks. Admittedly, the new Daleks were shown as the rulers, but the preexisting models were conspicuously no longer being wiped out. By Series 8's Into The Dalek, the Skarosian monsters were back to being solely represented by the gold versions. Still, whilst many fans are happy to pretend that the new Dalek paradigm never happened (and the production team seem happy to go along with this notion for now too), some fans did like them and even sort of miss them. A bit.
