10 Epic TV Shows That Never Made It To Our Screens

2. Star Wars Detours

This one would have been an absolute riot.

A collaboration between Lucasfilm Animation and Robot Chicken was mooted in mid-2012, with the series being planned to be set between Episodes III and IV. Lucasfilm pushed the project back in early 2013 over fears that this brand of comedy could be the first way that some fans would experience Star Wars - especially with the sequel trilogy on the way.

Yet, come September, Robot Chicken's Seth Green claimed that 39 episodes had been completed. The parody series included original talent such as Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, Ahmed Best as Jar Jar Binks and Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian, so you could see that the show meant business.

However, Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm threw the project into limbo and this style of poking fun was soon seen as distracting, rather than a tonic to the sincerity of some of their other projects.

Come 2015, the show had been officially cancelled, but in 2018 Lucasfilm filed a new trademark for the series.

Perhaps there is hope for this animated spoof from a galaxy far, far away...
