10 Exact Moments Fans Turned On Their Favourite TV Characters

8. John Punches Sherlock - Sherlock

Leonard Penny Big Bang Theory
BBC

One of the best known and beloved bromances ever created, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson were brought to the modern world with the BBC's Sherlock series back in 2010 and quickly became arguably the greatest ever portrayal of the Arthur Conan Doyle creations.

Fans loved John's dry wit and strong moral compass that helped remind Sherlock of the need for some humanity during the two's adventures together. However, the good doctor's standing with fans would take a serious hit during season four of the show.

During episode two, The Lying Detective, Sherlock and Watson wind up in a mortuary chasing a man called Culverton Smith who Sherlock believes is a serial killer. When it looks like Sherlock's withdrawals and spiralling mental condition has led him to another dead end, Watson completely snaps.

Already blaming Sherlock for the death of his wife Mary, it's genuinely some of the most unnerving viewing the series threw up when John let rip at his best friend, throwing punches and kicking him as he clung to the floor. Screaming at him and leaving him bloodied on the floor, there might have been reasons behind John losing the plot here, but there's no denying that the good doctor's image was certainly left tarnished after this altercation with everyone's favourite detective.
