10 Famous Directors Who Made Columbo Episodes

3. Peter Falk

Columbo Spielberg

Peter Falk, Columbo himself, is a man who needs no introduction, but it may come as a surprise to many that the legendary detective actually directed an episode of the show... in its first season no less.

"Blueprint for Murder" is Season 1's concluding episode and it's another good but not great one. Falk gets the job done but it's telling that he never directed another episode, perhaps deciding that playing Columbo was enough responsibility without having to worry about everything else happening on the set.

Obviously, best known as Columbo, Falk still had an extensive and highly regarded career in television and film outside of that famous role. He was nominated twice for Academy Awards for supporting roles in the films Murder, Inc and Pocketful of Miracles and he also won a primetime Emmy for The Dick Powell Show (before winning a further four Emmys and a Golden Globe for Columbo).

Just one more thing... Peter Falk is an undisputed television legend.
