10 Female Actors Who Would Have Been A Better Doctor Who

If the BBC producers were looking for a more 'prim and proper' Doctor, they could have done much worse than look past the 59 year old veteran. Scott Thomas has a wide range of film and theatre credits to her name, with her most famous role being Katharine Clifton in The English Patient.

While based primarily in France now, Scott Thomas' ability to bring a range of emotions to her characterisations would have been perfect for the role, moving past the caricature version of the Doctor we have received from Whittaker.

Having a second 'elder statesman' in a row would have been the biggest turnoff for having Thomas in the role, especially following Peter Capaldi's 'ageing rocker' persona. Still, Scott Thomas would be the first actress to consider if they were looking for a female to portray The Doctor more in the Hartnell mould than the goofy theatrics of Tennant or Smith.
