10 Female Actors Who Would Have Been A Better Doctor Who

6. Claire Foy

While the previous entry's age counted against her, the same issues do not apply for Claire Foy, while also having Scott Thomas' strengths. Both Foy and Scott Thomas would have brought a sense of 'regalness' and authority to the role of the Doctor, something desperately lacking at the moment.

Foy was brilliant in her portrayal of a young Queen Elizabeth in the Netflix series The Crown, bringing a believability to her high status position while also displaying her majesty's vulnerabilities. On this role alone, her move from Queen of England to Lord of Time would seem to be one she could achieve with a minimum of fuss.

Foy has also showed a great range in her characterisations, from action star in The Girl in the Spider's Web, while also displaying great comic timing when hosting Saturday Night Live. Her commitments to The Crown may have hindered her chances this time around, but this is not to say that she wouldn't be a strong possibility for the gig in the future.

With all the suave and sophistication of any Aussie half way through a slab, Luke will critique every minute detail of films and shows from all eras- unless it's 1990's Simpsons episodes, because they're just perfect
