1. Friends - The One With The Holiday Armadillo
Friends had a whole host of holiday specials, frequently putting out great Thanksgiving episodes as well as Christmas ones like The One With The Routine and The One With Phoebe’s Dad. However, this one simply has to come out on top.
Ross isn’t as popular as someone like Chandler, and his sometimes questionable behaviour with Rachel and other girlfriends means he’s rarely many fans’ number one. However, like the rest of them he’s an integral part of the show. As things like ‘PIVOT!’, ‘I’m fiiiiiine’ and ‘We were on a break!’ show though, David Schwimmer was always best when he was over the top.
Although we don’t see any of those patented exasperated yells, he’s still the most memorable thing going on here. The juxtaposition of his ridiculous costume with this sweet but important lessons on Hanukkah is played to perfection. Chandler stepping in as Santa then taking a backseat for Ross to educate his son is endearing too.
That’s why Friends is the perfect show for Christmas. Ten years with this cast and they’ve stuck together through everything. We’ve seen them grow, and we feel like part of the gang. Watching Friends at Christmas is like being with your friends at Christmas.
