In Season 3, Episode 9 (the episode better known for containing the Red Wedding), being stabbed through the chest by Jon Snow. In his dying moments, Orell used his warging powers to transfer his mind into an eagle and attack Jon again.
Could He Still Be Alive?
In a manner of speaking, yes. His body was obviously killed on screen, but warging allowed his mind to escape. Orell could still be living quite happily in the North as an eagle, albeit that's a life which can't be easy in and of itself as a long winter arrives.
In practical terms, Orell's possible survival and continuing status as an actual character kind of depends on how warging works. We know from conversations taking place between Bran and Jojen Reed that spending too much time warged into the mind of an animal results in your human mind slipping away and you becoming completely bestial. The likelihood, then, is that this is just what has happened to the Orell-eagle, and it is now indistinguishable from any other eagle.
Unless, that is, Orell could warg from the eagle's mind into another human body and take possession of that. We've seen Bran do something similar with Hodor, although this is used as a sign of quite how powerful Bran is rather than a normal warging power. So, unless Orell is miraculously as magically gifted as Bran, he's probably a goner.
