There is yet to be a payoff to this Melisandre prophecy from season three, but an answer could be found in a more recent prediction that she delivered to Varys in season seven. The Red Priestess was last seen heading to Volantis, but not before she promised to return to Westeros because that is where she must die, so is the Lord of Light’s wish.
She was spooked by Arya when they met previously and seemed to forecast the youngest Stark girl’s faceless future: “Brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes. Eyes sealed shut forever”.
Crucially, Melisandre is still on Arya’s list of names for taking away Gendry. Add these clues together and she faces death at the hands of Arya in series eight. Davos and Jon have both vowed to kill Melisandre if they see her again, but it could by Arya who swings the sword.
