10 Games Of Thrones Actors You Recognise But Can't Place
6. Hannah Murray - Gilly
Gilly is the lovable Sam's paramour, the Wildling girl who is a lot tougher than her doe-eyed countenance suggests. Despite being abused by her father pretty much her entire life, she's a sweet, gentle girl who is utterly devoted to both her infant son and Sam. The indomitable Gilly is played by Hannah Murray, a British actress who, despite being only 25 years old, is a television veteran, having worked in the medium since she was 16. Her first major role came in 2007, when she was cast as Cassie in E4's Skins. She won critical acclaim for her performance as a loving but spacey high school student suffering from a crippling eating disorder. You likely know her from there, even though Cassie was significantly less bedraggled than her Game of Thrones counterpart. She also played Matt Smith's (of Doctor Who fame) girlfriend in the genuinely unsettling Womb, where a woman falls in love with the clone of her dead boyfriend, who she carried to term and raised as a son. There's sort of an incestuous theme going on here, actually.
Audrey Fox is an ex-film student, which means that she prefers to spend her days in the dark, watching movies and pondering the director's use of diegetic sound. She currently works as an entertainment writer, joyfully rambling about all things film and television related.
