Christopher Eccleston is a funny presence in the Doctor Who world. He's cherished thanks to the fact that he brought the Doctor back in stylish and eye-catching fashion, but, thanks to his short tenure in the role and lack of reprisal never felt synonymous with the series. Still, that's certainly helped him when it comes to sinking into his parts since Doctor Who.

This BBC drama follows the struggles of the Hughes family after their five-year-old son George is diagnosed with autism. With little knowledge of the condition, the family try their hardest to make it work, with Eccleston taking on the role of George's tactless grandfather.

Autism is a subject that can be very dicey. There's a fine line between delivering an honest reflection of the disorder and using it as a means for cheap drama. Thankfully, this show sits firmly on the first of those options.

The show's focus on the family's response to the young George's diagnosis is part of what makes it so compelling. It's a raw and honest series that depicts the struggles of being a parent with no knowledge of ASD whilst still painting the picture of a loving family.
