10 Great TV Shows With Awful First Seasons

6. Lucifer

Though not necessarily the first character that may be thought of in terms of DC comics, Lucifer earned itself quite a following to the point that fans campaigned for its return after a season three cancellation.

Tom Ellis as the titular character was an absolute stand out, and while the final season may not lived up to quite what may have been expected, it was a solid end to a phenomenal series. The same couldn't have been said if things had carried on as they began in season one.

The concept of having the literal Devil working with a detective was certainly intriguing, but it was the latter aspect that the show leaned into more so than the former. It became something of a fairly standard cop show with a few flashes of the Devil, rather than the other way around.

Once the supernatural side was further embraced, as more and more people around Lucifer began to see the truth and the stories became more intertwined with his life as a former angel, things got much, much better. It's no surprise there are still calls for a season seven.
