10 Greatest Ship Reveals In Star Trek

9. Starbase Yorktown - Star Trek: Beyond

The reveal of this giant snowglobe in space is one of the highlights from the third Kelvin-universe film. At first glance, one might agree with McCoy that it's something doomed to explode, killing all aboard. And there is an intricacy to this starbase that hadn't been seen in Star Trek before, so it immediately stands out.

Much like the giant mushroom that first appeared in The Search For Spock, this starbase welcomes Starfleet vessels inside. In fact, this one is a little bit more fun, as the ships pass beneath the many walkways, bridges, and towers that make up the floating city.

The scene in which the Enterprise floats lazily along the starship track gives the film ample opportunity to show off this gorgeous design, while Michael Giacchino's score is playfully dropped all around. As this scene also offers us the last beauty shots of the Kelvin-Enterprise (sob!) it's got everything going for it.

We'd love a fourth Kelvin-universe film simply to see this station float again, perhaps with a cheeky visit from the Enterprise-A.
