10 Greatest Ship Reveals In Star Trek

8. The Phoenix's Final Form - Star Trek: First Contact

Perhaps this will be considered sacrilege, but Star Trek: First Contact's best ship reveal comes toward the end of the film, rather than the many gorgeous shots in the beginning. We already included the arrival of the Enterprise-E in our list of ship entrances, so even though that first shot of the Sovereign-class is wonderful, it's the Phoenix that takes a spot here.

Consider this - the Phoenix is one of the most important ships in human history, and as an audience we get three separate reveals of it. First, we see it as an upright rocket, though of course we can only see a fraction. Then, later, we see it rising from the silo, showing off the size of the missile itself.

Only after it sheds the assembly that boosted it into the atmosphere do we finally see the Phoenix begin to unfurl her nacelles, spooling up the bussard collectors, and getting ready for that history first flight.

All of this plays while the Borg have effective control of the Enterprise-E, so while this amazing scene is playing out, its juxtaposed against extreme tension. This, in many ways, makes it one of the most memorable reveals in Trek history.
