10 Greatest TV Anti-Heroes

1. "Walter White" Breaking Bad

Walter White had to be at number one on this list because frankly he deserves it. Never before has a TV series been show focused on showing one single characters arc from good guy to bad guy. When I began Breaking Bad I liked Walter White a lot, and to be honest, I didn't even care that he started cooking meth or even killed those two men within the first three episodes. The meth I can forgive because at this point Walter was probably going to die, so I felt enough sympathy for him to allow him to do one bad deed, and the murders were actually justified. Walter took a lot of time coming up with whether to kill the man in the basement and if it wasn't for the man trying to kill him he would have set the man free. So I respected him quite a lot actually. At the end of Season 2 when he let Jesse's girlfriend choke to death, I went off him a lot... but even with that horrible act, believe it or not, I found a way to forgive him. I really, really, really wanted to like Walter, and would have forgiven him of almost anything. Also, he felt pretty bad about it, so at least he had a conscience. However, when he poisons that kid at the end of Season 4 I couldn't forgive him... as much as I wanted to like him, it was obvious the show creators were showing a character go from nice, normal guy to a monster. The fact that he didn't feel all that bad about it either was a change. Walter White had now officially changed and I had to admit that. Once I had loved the character despite some of the awful things he had done, but now, despite feeling some sympathy for him, I can't like him. Even Dexter doesn't kill children. Walter White is one of the most fascinating TV characters of all time FULL STOP! He is also acted by the greatest television actor of all time... Bryan Cranston (who definitely deserved to win the Emmy this year over Damien Lewis... just saying). If you don't watch this show, you really really should. It really is the best thing currently on television, and Walter White is the best fictional anti-hero of all time.

I am a recent Screenwriting for Film and Television graduate from the UK. I am an unashamed geek who loves everything Marvel, and anything Joss Whedon has ever touched (except for maybe Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E). My current favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Family Guy, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Homeland and Glee. I look forward to debating things with all of you in the future.
