10 Greatest TV Anti-Heroes

2. "Dexter Morgan" Dexter

I only started watching Dexter last year (I am now 100% caught up). Before I began, I was worried that I wouldn't like the character. How sympathetic and enjoyable can a serial killer really be as the leading protagonist of a show named after him? It turns out very! This show deserves a lot of credit for making a character, who by this point has probably killed upwards of 100 people, into someone we want good things to happen to. It's funny that for most of the first season I kind of wanted Dexter to get caught by the police. Despite the whole "only kills serial killer thing", what Dexter does is pretty much just as bad as those who he kills, and the fact that he gets so much enjoyment from it was initially difficult to enjoy. However as soon as Season 2 started (the best season) and there was a real threat that he would be found out and have to pay for his crimes, I was completely rooting for him. I wanted him to get away with it. Even going into Season 7 and knowing that he will eventually get his comeuppance, I still feel for the character and don't want to see him killed or even go to jail. Considering he lives in Florida, it's pretty likely he'll get the death sentence. But Dexter is so brilliantly well played by Michael C Hall, and despite the character admitting that he struggles to feel human emotions, I feel enough of them for him and about him. Dexter is the most lovable a serial killer has ever been, and the fact that I just said serial killer and lovable in the same sentence just goes to show how successful this show really is.

I am an unashamed geek who loves everything Marvel, and anything Joss Whedon has ever touched (except for maybe Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E). My current favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Family Guy, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Homeland and Glee. I look forward to debating things with all of you in the future.
