10 Greatest TV Series Finales Of All Time

7. 30 Rock

30 Rock is among the all too rare cult favourites to've lasted several seasons. Sidestepping early cancellation, the witty, offbeat sitcom enjoyed 7 consistently funny years on the air. Creating holidays, catchphrases and hilarious characters, the series never missed a step, avoiding the creative slumps that so often plague the latter seasons of long-running sitcoms.

The episode finds several principle characters at crossroads in their lives as the show-within-the-show comes to an end. Full of humorous references to previous episodes, the finale also provides warm-hearted closing chapters for its characters and a poignant (but fittingly daft) farewell between Liz and Jack.

Liz landing on her feet with a husband, kids and a new show feels well-earned. Jenna's musical number is remarkably affecting and Jack's see-through dishwasher idea is exactly the kind of thing you'd expect him to conjure up.

Best of all, it makes good on a joke from the very beginning: Jack's prophecy that the former page, Kenneth, would one day rule the entire network. Kenneth's immortal, flying cars epilogue was a laugh out loud funny scene to bow out on, the perfect goodbye.
