The episode uses every Kung Fu movie cliché in the book (or on screen). The cast goes full Chinese with costumes, wigs, and even a moustache for Ted.

This stunt inspired an outraged mob on Twitter who accused HIMYM of racism and cultural appropriation. To their credit, the show’s creators apologised, but what’s done is done.
