10 Huge Doctor Who Moments Everyone Was Waiting For (That Never Happened)
7. More Of The Time War
Ever since it was first mentioned in 2005, fans have been hoping for a more detailed look at the Time War. The Day of the Doctor finally took us into the heat of the battle, but aside from the blistering climax and the opening sequence, there's not much Time War to see.
If you're going to cast John Hurt as the War Doctor, then surely you're going to show him at war, right? And yet, a huge chunk of The Day of the Doctor takes place in and around the Tower of London.
It does make sense, given that there will never be enough money in the world to convincingly depict a conflict across multiple timelines and realities. Doctor Who's Time War will always come down to some Gallifreyan soldiers shooting at Daleks in a ruined city.
Still, how cool would it have been to finally clap eyes on the Nightmare Child or the Could-Have-Been King? Or to see the battle unfolding on a different planet? Or to give Paul McGann that Time War spinoff we're all craving?
It's been 20 years and the show has barely scratched the surface of the war to end all wars. It's an opportunity begging to be taken.
