10 Hugely Underrated Fantasy TV Shows From The Last Decade

8. Teen Wolf (2011-present)

MTV

Teen Wolf is a classic 1980s Michael J. Fox film of the so-bad-it's-good variety and a personal favourite, so I was sceptical when MTV of all networks seemed to have borrowed the character names from the movie and little else. The TV series does, however, echo the original's charm with its melodrama, casual attitude to the supernatural and absolutely crazy plotting. It's reminiscent of CW shows like The Vampire Diaries, but takes itself a lot less seriously.

Fans will note that its high points have included its breakout character Stiles (played by the rising star Dylan O'Brien), its belated acknowledgement that protagonist Scott is nice but dumb, and the sexual tension between just about every member of the impossibly good-looking cast. Newcomers can look forward to Battlestar Galactica's Michael Hogan hamming it up spectacularly in the second season as the villainous Gerard Argent. Don't dismiss it because it's on MTV, because if you like glossy supernatural shows, Teen Wolf is currently the best of the bunch.
