10 Iconic Episodes Of Avatar: The Last Airbender
3. Tales of Ba Sing Se (Book 2: Episode 15)
The Tales of Ba Sing Se is one of the most beloved episodes of the entire show. It is a set of small tales about each of the main characters' adventures through the city of Ba Sing Se while telling us more about their personalities and personal lives.
Katara and Toph have a girls day out, Momo searches for Appa, Zuko goes on a date, Sokka unintentionally attends an all-girls poetry club and Aang helps a zookeeper with his animals. But the most cherished of these stories is The Tale of Iroh. While walking through the city, Iroh helps random strangers with gestures of kindness and good life advice before finding a secluded spot outside the city to mark his son, Lu-Ten’s birthday, who died during the Siege of Ba Sing Se many years prior.
Iroh then tearfully starts to sing “Leaves from the Vine”, which is about a young soldier returning home. What makes this tale all the more heartbreaking is that the original voice actor for Iroh, Mako Iwamatsu, died while Book 2 was being aired for the first time. The tale was then dedicated to him in honour of his death.
