6. 17th Precinct
What's the one thing that the world of police procedural dramas is desperately lacking? If the answer that immediately ejected from your face hole was "the casual use of magic" then congratulations! You're probably Ronald Moore. Back in 2011 the Battlestar Galactica producer and screenwriter developed a concept for NBC that was initially pitched as "Harry Potter for grownups". Now, initially, that description sort of makes the gag reflex freak out. But then you take into consideration the fact that (A) Ronald Moore is developing it, (B) Battlestar alumni Tricia Helfer, Jamie Bamber and James Callis were all set to star and (C) the fictional city it's set in was called "Excelsior" (yes, that's correct). These facts make you realise that "hey, this show could despite that annoying elevator pitch be awesome!" Set in the aforementioned cities 17th Precinct, the series would have dealt with police procedurals in a world where plants power things, buildings are covered in runic symbols and the word "science" leaves people with blank faces. NBC however, did not pick up the series and despite the pilot leaking online for a short while, it has never been aired publicly.
