10 Most Inglorious TV Character Deaths (After The Actor Left The Show)

2. Jadzia Dax - Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Romance Deep Space Nine DS9 was the different Star Trek. It was probably the most un-Rodenberry like series of them all, meaning that its tone and storylines strayed from the vision of the franchise's creator. Despite this the series holds a special place in the hearts of many, with some even considering it to be the best Star Trek show of all. Though I would reserve this honour for TNG, I too greatly enjoyed the series and was happy that it was different and stood out from the rest. A big reason for this was the cast, which itself was a departure from those under the charge of Captain's Kirk and Picard. We had Sisko, Odo and Quark among others, one of which was Jadzia Dax, the DS9 science officer. Jadzia was a Trill who shared her life with the symbiotic Dax, who had already lived several lives by the time of the joining with Jadzia. The Dax character was an interesting concept €“ Jadzia shared the memories of Dax and as such was wise beyond her years. She also held a bond with several characters from its past, including Sisko who dubbed her old man, in reference to its former life as Curzon Dax. Terry Farrell decided to leave her role as Dax in favour of the then in development Becker, so Jadzia was to be killed off, bear in mind that it€™s Jadzia that died and not Dax as the character was murdered by the series primary antagonist Gul Dukat in the finale of the sixth season. Once again one of Worf's relationships came to a sudden end and to add salt to the wounds, Jadzia€™s place was soon taken by a lookalike. I understand that it's the nature of the Trill to move to another host, but could the producers not have found someone who was a more obvious departure? It seemed more like we had a fake Jadzia for the final season, rather than a new Dax.
