3. Jason Teague - Smallville
Well heres one entry we should all be happy about. The fourth season of Smallville is probably the last the show had in its original concept. After this season the comic books began to have a greater influence on the show as it shifted to a full on superhero show rather than the teen drama of the first half of its run. Of course nothing says teen drama like a high school love triangle, and that's exactly what we got. With Clark and Lana in splitsville again, the girl next door needed a new love interest. Whitney- Lana's Flash Thompson-was long gone and it was too soon for Lex to be stabbing Clark in the back, so a new character was created and that was Jason Teague. Played by the now CW stalwart Jensen Ackles, Jason like Lex was slightly older than the teen leads and having met her in Paris, came to Smallville to embark on a relationship with Lana. Of course the union was rather creepy considering the fact that Jason took a job as a football coach at Lana's school, but hey, teen drama right? If this less-than-sound level of decision making wasn't enough to make the viewer question the man's credentials, we were soon given a better reason to, as we learnt that Jason had other even the less noble reasons for being in Smallville. He was under the thumb of his mother and to cut a long story short, he kills a woman, steals some stones and ends the season pointing a gun at the Kents as the farm is struck by a meteor. In the next season we learn that Jason was killed as a result of this act of god, and after a season of build-up, he is quickly forgotten. Lets face it though it was probably for the best. Smallville was going in another direction, more comic book villains were coming and Lex was beginning to resemble his comic incarnation. Plus Ackles left to star in Supernatural, so everyone's a winner.
