At the start of Season 1, Daenerys Targaryen is given three dragon eggs by Illyrio Mopatis, and at the very end of the season, the eggs hatch into Viserion, Rhaegal, and Drogon. These three dragons go on to become an iconic part of the show, growing from minute babies into fearsome beasts.

Though the dragon eggs were no longer necessary after the first season, they weren’t just thrown away. Two of the eggs went to executive producers David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, and the third went to George R. R. Martin.

Interestingly enough, Martin was given Drogon’s egg, which – due to his vast size and power – is probably the best one to have. Where Martin stores the egg is anyone’s guess. But given the author has a passion for collecting figures from history and fantasy fiction, the egg will probably fit into his home pretty nicely.
