10 Interesting Facts About The Making Of Game Of Thrones
6. The Coldplay Drummer Attended The Red Wedding
The Red Wedding is probably the most iconic scene in Game of Thrones. When it was broadcast back in 2013, the butchering of Rob Stark’s army sent ripples of horror through the fanbase. Even those who'd read the books were shocked by how brutal it was.
At the start of this traumatic event, a musician starts playing ‘The Rains of Castamere’ on his cello. To the right of this man is another musician holding a drum, who is none other than Will Champion, the drummer from the famous pop-rock band Coldplay.
Leaving aside the fact that Champion is playing his preferred instrument, it’s incredibly hard to spot the drummer unless you’re looking out for it. Even if you’re a diehard Coldplay fan, it’s easy to miss this little detail.
Interestingly enough, this wasn’t the only time Coldplay was involved with the show. Back in 2015, they also did a Game of Thrones musical with the cast to raise money for Red Nose Day – so the boys are obviously big fans of the show.
