10 Lost Doctor Who Episodes We'll Never See
8. Mission To The Unknown
Mission to the Unknown is probably one of the most unique Doctor Who episodes out there. It is the first episode not to feature the TARDIS, and the only episode to not feature the Doctor or any of their companions. This singular episode worked as a prequel to the huge The Daleks' Master Plan.
The saddest aspect of this episode being missing is that it was the last episode that the show's original producer, Verity Lambert, was producer on. Verity had been producer of the show since the very beginning, and was a true fighter in seeing this show take off.
However, whilst this episode is missing, there is one saving grace, which comes from a rather unusual source, the students of the University of Central Lancashire. Back in 2019, this episode was fully recreated by a group of dedicated students, graduates, and staff of the university, using the production values of the 1960s. They even got original companion Peter Purves and Dalek voice master Nicholas Briggs. The recreation is still available on the official Doctor Who YouTube channel, and is the perfect way to see this lost moment of 1960s Doctor Who history.
