10 MORE Actors You Didn’t Know Were In Star Trek

Wil Wheaton was in Star Trek? No! Get out! What bombshell are you going to drop on us next? The holodeck doesn't always work as intended? Don't worry! We've not all hit our heads on the Vasquez Rocks. We're not talking about Wesley — real, holographic, or parallel. We're talking about Wheaton's lesser-known work in Star Trek (2009). It's an old one, but a goodie!

If you don't remember Wheaton in the movie, you've not suffered one of Doctor Pulaski's memory wipes either. He was never actually on screen. Nor was he behind any prosthetics, or layers of green! Instead, he was the dubbed-over voice of many of the Romulan Narada crew.

According to a November 2009 post on his blog, Wheaton got the gig via fellow actor Greg Grunberg, who also had a voice-only part in Star Trek '09 as Kirk's stepfather, replacing Brad William Henke as Kirk's uncle. Grunberg messaged Wheaton to say, "JJ needs voice actors for Star Trek. Would you be interested in doing that?" Wheaton didn't need long to think about it.

As for those Vulcan-totalling Romulans, Wheaton went on to note on his blog that,

They digitally-altered my voice to sound like different people, but when I saw the movie, I could definitely tell that it was me underneath the effects.

All except one. Towards the end of the film, "one of the Romulans is yelling at Nero, and it's my plain old voice," Wheaton added. That's what happens when you forget to wear a sweater!

Jack Kiely is a writer with a PhD in French and almost certainly an unhealthy obsession with Star Trek.
