3. Klingon Kleavage

Star Trek Klingon Discovery
CBS

Star Trek: Discovery is responsible for the first-ever shot of Klingon nudity on-screen, in the first season episode Into The Forest I Go. Granted, the scene is about as far from sensual as one can be, as Ash Tyler is describing his abuse at L'Rell's hands to Michael.

It was an interesting choice for this to be the first example of Klingon nudity in the franchise while describing a traumatic moment in Tyler's life. Having said that, Tyler is an unreliable narrator as what he may be remembering is a consensual encounter between L'Rell and Voq, the consciousness of the Klingon soldier that Tyler shares his mind with.

Regardless, the one-second shot of L'Rell atop Tyler is now an infamous scene in Star Trek: Discovery, and in the franchise as a whole. While the choice of the Klingon aesthetic in Discovery is up for debate, did they really have to pick bedsheets that are exactly the same colour as L'Rell herself? It's more than a little odd!
