10 Most Adult Moments In Batman: The Animated Series
1. I Am The Night - Nothing To Fear
Bruce Wayne is never going to be able to shake the scar of his parents' murder for the rest of his days. Since that one act of violence managed to send him on the path of crime fighting, he has turned his one tragedy into one of the greatest character arcs of all time. Still, that regret is going to be lurking at every turn.
Towards the beginning of the series' run, Scarecrow made his full debut. Using his fear toxin on Batman, you see Bruce go through a bit of an existential depression back home. Though Bruce never finds things scary too often, his sense of panic comes in when he hears visions of his father calling him a disgrace to his family.
While most of the episode involves taking the Scarecrow down, it's still some of the greatest character moments for Bruce, with the climax being him conquering his fear with the classic line of "I am vengeance...I am the night."
Although there's probably a lot of reasons to justify dressing up as a bat and fighting crime, this was the one moment when Bruce was able to finally make peace with the life he chose to lead.
