10 Most Adult Moments In Batman: The Animated Series
2. Annie's Death - Growing Pains
For the most part, people like to think of Robin as the more light hearted version of Batman. Even though old Bats might be fun to see kicking some ass, you need someone like Tim Drake to keep him from being stoic all the time.
That's not to say that Tim doesn't find himself in his fair share of heartbreaking moments either though.
Throughout Growing Pains, we start to see Robin coming across a lost girl named Annie as she tries to get away from her abusive father. Though there aren't any romantic intentions involved, you can tell that Robin is still trying to make sure that he can keep Annie safe from whatever's going on at home. When it's revealed that her father is Clayface though, we see Annie get swallowed back into her father's clay form in as gruesome a way as you can imagine on a kid's show.
It's genuinely heartbreaking to see this girl realize that she's going to die, as she forcefully gets morphed into clay again. Clayface may have been brought down in the end, but Robin ended up losing a dear friend in the process.
