10 Most Adult Moments In Batman: The Animated Series

3. Price Of Justice - Robin's Reckoning

You can't help but feel like most of Batman's actions are done as a bit of catharsis. Since he's never going to be able to look his parents' killer in the face, he can at least take out that aggression on others who prey on the innocent. Then again, if you have what Robin went through, Batman might have gotten off a little bit cleaner.

While most people expect the addition of Robin to be a lot more kid-friendly, Dick Grayson's original turn as Batman's ward was a lot darker with Robin's Reckoning, where he comes face to face with his parents' killer.

Since the original Tony Zucco was responsible for bringing down the Grayson family during an acrobatics performance, Robin decides to hunt him down like a dog and might go over the edge and break his one rule of not killing.

Even for animation, this is still one of the most heartbreaking decisions that Dick has to make, especially when Batman tries to talk him down. You can tell that this kid is using every fiber of his being to restrain himself from beating this guy to a pulp, but he does at least make sure that he gets what's coming to him.

For as many times as Robin has been a random hostage for Batman to save, it was incredibly refreshing to see him be treated as the Dark Knight's true equal.
