6. Saying Goodbye (Community)

Perhaps we should just be grateful that Community even made it this far. The story of the study group of misfits is one of the smartest and funniest sitcoms of (at least) the last decade, with incredibly meta humour, pop culture references, and full-blown paintball shootouts. Despite its greatness, it has always been something of a cult comedy, never quite reaching a huge audience, and constantly living under the threat of cancellation. There was Dan Harmon's departure, leading to the let's-not-talk-about-it Season 4; Dan Harmon's return, leading to the improved-but-not-as-good-as-it-used-to-be Season 5, and after that it was cancelled by NBC, only for Yahoo to rescue it for a sixth season. It was a good season, if not fully recapturing the magic of the first three, and it ended in a way that very much suggests things are over. The gang all imagine what a 7th season would look like, and then ends with them all saying their goodbyes and having a study group hug. Maybe one day we'll get the '...and a movie', but for now this does seem to be it, and that's enough to warrant that last farewell a place on this list.
