4. Battle Of The Gods - The Reckoning

Star Trek Deep Space Nine The Reckoning Jake And Kira

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine introduced the timeless Prophets in its first episode, serving as gods over Bajor. They needed their devils, so the Pah Wraiths entered the fray in The Assignment. From that point, a confrontation between the two was put on a slow boil, eventually erupting in The Reckoning.

Kira is possessed by a Prophet, while Jake is possessed by the Kosst Amojen. For Deep Space Nine, this was akin to the Book of Revelation, and the outcome was by no means guaranteed. While Sisko stands to the side, helpless to protect his son, it looks as though the Prophets are going to annihilate him. Even Dax questions the wisdom of Ben's inaction, but he brushes her away, certain of his faith in the Prophets.

It looks as though things really will take a fatal turn - and then Kai Winn steps in, possessing none of Ben's faith, and forces both entities to leave their hosts. This sets the final battle in motion, though even timeless gods didn't see it coming, as evidenced by Kira's scream of rage.

It came down to the wire, lives were on the line, and this was one light show that inspired many hairs on many necks to stand on end.
