10 Most Messed Up Deaths In Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

5. Crewman Muniz - The Ship

Crewman Muniz became an early victim in the slow build up to the Dominion War. Deep Space Nine rarely shied away from showing the horrors of war, though in The Ship, the show opted to depict a slow, painful death, inflicted on a poor man who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Muniz was part of the away team that was tasked with salvaging a downed Jem'hadar fighter. He was shot by one of their weapons, which then consigned him to a slow death - something Worf found particularly grating.

He butted heads with Chief O'Brien, advising to kill the man quick and save his dignity. O'Brien vehemently objected, refusing to give up hope. Would that the show have opted to go with the Chief's outlook, rather than later proving Worf, at least in part, to have been correct. Muniz slowly bleeds to death, finally passing away mere hours before the rescue party comes to collect them all.
