10 Most Messed Up Deaths In Star Trek: Enterprise

9. Killed To Shock The Audience - These Are The Voyages

We now move to a death that was so pointless and ill-conceived that even the writers agreed it was a bad call. Trip was killed to shock the audience. As this was the final episode of Star Trek: Enterprise (with no foreseeable continuations) everyone was fair game, with poor Charles Tucker III getting the short straw.

While some pirates boarded the ship, he distracted them by blowing up a power conduit, resulting in his own death. Sure, he went out in a heroic fashion, but at what cost? Star Trek has a habit of fumbling the ball when it comes to shock deaths (see: #PrayersForJadzia, #YeetTasha) - this, alas, was no improvement on that sad trend. What's more, with the show's ending, there was no chance to properly revisit the character ala Yesterday's Enterprise or Ezri Dax's arc.

While Trip survived in Beta canon, for Alpha canon he is unfortunately brown bread. It was a silly move in the episode, it remains a silly move now. In a phrase this writer genuinely never expected to type - thank the Prophets for the Very Short Treks!
