Just try and name an actress more talented and respected than Dame Judi Dench. It simply can’t be done. So, you’d naturally expect such an icon of her generation to have some of the most incredible stories and Judi doesn’t even come close to disappointing.

Dench is known for her vast collection of animals, including four cats, one dog, two guinea pigs and two goldfish. One of these fish bizarrely managed to start drowning in its tank one day. Exactly how this animal violated the laws of nature is never quite clarified, but Judi’s immediate reaction was to reach into the tank and give it the breath of life.

Of course, blowing air into a fish’s mouth should kill it, but as if to make the story as miraculous as possible, it still survives to this day.

According to Judi, it doubled in size after the ordeal and has lost its gold colour, probably due to the immense stress of seeing its life flash before its eyes.

It’s now also been renamed to Lazarus, probably to make sure that any further near-death experiences again result in a miraculous recovery.
