10 Most Powerful Weapons In Star Trek

5. Thalaron Radiation Generators - Small Scale

The off-screen invasion of Romulus by their Reman subjugated was swift and bloody. While Shinzon had spent years building his forces and developing his weapon ship, the Scimitar, from a secret base, he needed allies in the Romulan hierarchy for his plan to succeed.

For that, he needed a mission statement that could be quickly understood by the rest of the Romulan people. For this, he elected to use Thalaron.

Thalaron radiation was deadly to living tissue in even microscopic amounts. Devising a delivery method that would cover a smaller, confined space, Shinzon employed an ally within the Romulan senate itself to deliver this attack. There was a final debate on embracing the Remans on the floor, with the Praetor cutting off any hope for a peaceful resolution. He may have spoken too soon.

Senator Talura then asked to excuse herself, leaving a small device behind. It opened, allowing a small green field to rise before it fired a burst of particles to the ceiling. The Praetor asked the guards to bring her back before gasping in pain. He began to dissolve, followed by every other senator in the room.

In one move, the entire government had been assassinated, leaving Shinzon's path more or less clear.
