10 Most Rewatchable TV Shows Of All Time
4. Freaks And Geeks
Paul Feig’s Judd Apatow-produced comedy drama launched a bevy of careers and deserves its status as one of the most unfairly abridged TV shows ever made. It lasted just eighteen episodes in the face of unimpressive viewing figures, but lives on as a compulsively rewatchable cult classic.
Seldom has the experience of being young and unsure been captured so relatable. Freaks And Geeks is hilarious and horrifying in equal measure. It’s set in Michigan circa 1980, but anyone who survived adolescence will shiver with familiarity at the perfectly played and written characters navigating first loves, early experiences with booze and drugs, parental relationships and the rest.
Its short shelf life still stings, but the brevity of the series has led fans to rewatch it over and again, and it stands up to scrutiny. It’s great fun to see the likes of Seth Rogen and James Franco in their earliest (and often best) roles, especially given the great careers of almost everyone involved.
The period setting means the show will never age, and unless something seriously alters the chemical makeup of teenagers in the future, this will be compulsive rewatch material for years to come.
