6. Valentina Monetta, "Facebook (Uh Oh, Oh)" - San Marino 2012
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kQBEzzFRBs So, if you remember, "Telefon" in #8 was written by one Ralph Siegel. 30 years on from winning Eurovision, Mr. Siegel was back for another attempt. But things had changed in the 26 years since writing "Telefon" and there needed to be technological advancements in his songs. So with San Marino needing an entry, Ralph plucked the actually very talented Valentina Monetta out of obscurity in her home nation and thrust her in to the spotlight. Unfortunately, he did so with a song about Facebook. "Are you ready for a little chat, in a song about the internet?" is the opening lyric to this song. It's also probably the one that makes the most sense, too. Valentina asks up do we "want to play cybersex again?" and tells us to "click (her) with (our) mouse". The song was banned from entering because Eurovision doesn't allow commercial references in songs - instead, Siegel hastily re-wrote it to "The Social Network Song" and it was performed in that guise at the contest. It didn't make the final.
