10 Most Satisfying TV Character Deaths Of The Past Decade
4. Rawlins - The Punisher
Identity of Deceased: William J Rawlins III, Director of Covert Operations for the CIA and founder of Cerberus Squad, a military death squad secretly used to smuggle heroin.
Time of Death: 'Home' - Season 1, Episode 12 (first broadcast 17th November 2017).
Cause of Death: After spending hours torturing a restrained Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) with the intent of a slow and painful death, Castle's restraints are slyly removed by Billy Russo (Ben Barnes). Once free, Castle pounds Rawlins to a bloody pulp with his bare hands, then gouges his eyeballs out.
Why It Was So Satisfying: The Punisher has already left a substantial trail of bodies in his wake once we reach the penultimate episode of Season 1, but no one gets a send-off more brutal or more personal than Rawlins.
It isn't only what Rawlins has done to Castle personally, including the murder of his family; it's also what he embodies, the corrupt government figure manipulating the military for his own personal gain.
When Frank beats him to death, it's a blow in the name of every soldier who has died needlessly under false pretences.
